Sir, I want to become an Income Tax officer. I would like to know about the exam for this post? I also want to know what the salary an Income Tax officer get is. I hope you will give me correct information.


Dear Aspirant,

As cited above, that you want to become an Income Tax officer and want to know which exam you have to give to become a Income Tax Officer and also you want to know the pay scale for the Income Tax officer post, then for your information.

Income Tax Officer is a Group B post in Central Government, the recruitment for filling up of Group B, C and D grade posts in Central Government is done through SSC i.e. Staff Selection Commission which is an authority which recruits candidates for the Group B,C and D group posts in Central Government department.


The minimum eligibility criteria requires for applying to the Income Tax officer post is as follows :-

a. Must be a citizen of India

b. Age should be in between 21 – 28 years, however relaxation as per Govt. norms i.e 3 years to OBC, 5 to SC/ST and 8 years to Ex-service men is applicable.

c. Must possess a minimum of Graduation with Accountancy from a recognized university which comes under UGC.


Combined Graduate Level Exam i.e. CGL exam is essential to become a Income Tax Officer in Income Tax Department the recruitment for which is done by SSC.

The exam pattern comprises with the following :-

Tier I – Objective type questions
Tier II – Descriptive type questions
Interview
Merit
Selection.
