Vijaya Bank is one of the medium sized Public Sector bank which was established by Shri Attavara Balakrishna Shetty in the year 1931 in Dakshina Kannada District in Karnataka State. Vijaya Bank was becamed scheduled bank in 1958. 

Due to progressively grew Vijaya bank was merged up with 9 small banks during the year 1963-68 and was nationalized in the year 1989.
