Probationary Officer also known as substitutional officer and sometimes as a pending officer in banks is the first entry point job for the fresher. Probationary officer will get task / assignments from the managers. Also they will be deployed in various departments of bank.

A probationary officer has to carry out training which were assigned to him during his institution training. As you are aware that every department contains pending works likewise in banks also there were many pending works which a Probationary officer has to carry out with his regular duties.

The exact role that a Probationary officer is responsible are: Cash Management, Supervision of Clerical work, Do has to take decisions, Loan Processing and Recovery Loans.

At this point you will be not knowing that the for many work the Probationary officer will act as a maker and a cheker.

For example :- A clerk will be a maker who will do cash transaction here a clerk will be a maker and a probationary officer will be a checker who will authorize the work by re-checking. Also all paper and site facility for a Loan has to do by a Probationary officer here a probationary officer will be a maker and the manager will be a checker for granting permission / loan.

The tasks are allotted by the Senior officers in bank like Managers and they will monitor the work and nature of the appointed Probationary officer also side by side they will evaluate the performance for a certain period i.e. for probationary period.

A probationary period is the learning phase of the probationary officer which ends up in two years. During the probationary period a PO has to get involved in various banking activities and get experience for further work and promotions. Also as you are not aware that the banks has right to terminate the employee during his probationary period if he/she does not fit in position. So it is very important to be in good conduct during the probationary period.
